The Bowser/Deep Bay area starts at Nile Creek and goes through to Deep Bay. It shares the Lighthouse Country name and community feeling with the Qualicum North area. You are minutes away from everything that Qualicum North offers yet you have more of a residential feeling here. There are a number of communities that offer 1/3 to ½ acre properties near the waterfront areas. Residential housing ranges from the smaller cottages, to mid-sized one and two level homes to those larger private estate homes. Something for everyone. The central business area is known as Bowser. Here you will find Magnolia Court with its destination coffee shop, the local credit union, and artisan shops. Add in the very popular legion which hosts lots of interesting events throughout the year, the building supply, main grocery and smaller liquor store grocery plus other interesting shops and services and you have a really neat community. Of course living in this area means time is spent down at the Deep Bay Marina and then walking out to the end of the Deep Bay Spit to take in the incredible vista. Check out the Deep Bay Marine Shellfish Research Station which is part of the expanding Vancouver Island University. Take a course, a lecture or one of the other special events that take part here as they open their doors on an ongoing basis to the community. A rural flavour with a very west coast feeling.
